Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, known to film audiences as Thalapathy Vijay, inaugurated the rebuilt Pudukkottai bus stand on Monday, 2 November 2026. The new facility, developed at a cost of ₹23.25 crore, was opened during his first official visit to the district since assuming office.
Facilities at the Pudukkottai Bus Stand
Spread across approximately 20,077 square meters, the terminal features 60 bus bays, 74 shops and two eateries. Passenger amenities include waiting areas, drinking water, toilets, a room for nursing mothers, accessibility facilities and CCTV surveillance.
The development was initiated under the previous DMK government led by former Chief Minister M. K. Stalin. The foundation stone was laid in October 2024, during the tenure of then Municipal Administration Minister K. N. Nehru.
Vijay also inaugurated other completed development projects and participated in a welfare-assistance program during his Pudukkottai visit. The event marked another public engagement for the Tamil cinema actor-turned-politician in his role as Chief Minister.
